This former Boise State QB left via transfer. You’ll never guess what his baby’s name is
Former Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier may have left the Treasure Valley in 2022, but his heart seems to be still with Bronco Nation.
On Jan. 11, Bachmeier and his partner, Jenna Vitamanti, welcomed their first child. As a pair of former Boise State students, the name they picked for their firstborn couldn’t be more suitable:
Bronco.
Vitamanti, a Boise State graduate who is a sports reporter and anchor for FOX8 WGHP in High Point, North Carolina, told the news outlet they wanted a name that started with B because Bachmeier likes the alliteration with his last name.
“Immediately after finding out I was pregnant, we threw out every B word we could think of. Hank said Bronco and I immediately fell in love,” Vitamanti told FOX8.
“When we found out we were having a boy, I knew that had to be his name,” Vitamanti continued. “It’s also a subtle nod to where Hank and I went to college: Boise State. Plus, Hank’s brothers have animal names, so it all made perfect sense on naming our baby Bronco!”
Bronco joined the Bachmeier family’s menagerie of animal names. Hank has two brothers named Bear and Tiger. Bear is one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2025 and has committed to Stanford, while Tiger is a wide receiver with the Cardinal.
Bachmeier was a four-year starter for the Broncos, going a cumulative 20-9 and leading Boise State to a Mountain West championship in 2019. He transferred from the program after four games in 2022, days after the Broncos lost 27-10 to UTEP and offensive coordinator Tim Plough was fired.
Post-Boise State, Bachmeier spent a year at Louisiana Tech and recently ended his college career at Wake Forest. He was unable to match the success he had winning games as a Bronco, going 2-6 as Louisiana Tech’s starter and 3-8 for the Demon Deacons. In November, he surpassed 11,000 career passing yards.
