Boise State could land two recruits from Hawaii this week, including sought-after QB

Note: Sagapolutele committed to California on Monday.

The Boise State football team has a chance to add two highly touted players from Hawaii to its 2025 recruiting class this week.

James Campbell High quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele will announce his commitment live on 247Sports’ YouTube channel at 4 p.m. Mountain time on Monday. He’s a three-star recruit, the No. 1 overall prospect in Hawaii and the No. 27 quarterback in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports.

Sagapolutele has scholarship offers from at least 12 FBS programs, including Washington, Washington State and Colorado, but he’ll choose from a final four of Boise State, California, Utah State and Oregon State.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound lefty from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, has been busy this summer. He took an official visit to Utah State in late May and followed with visits to Oregon State and Boise State in June. He also competed in the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles and did well enough to earn an offer from SMU after the event.

Sagapolutele capped a busy June with an official visit to California. 247Sports recruiting experts, including Brandon Huffman and Greg Biggins, have predicted that he’ll choose the Bears on Monday, but Boise State still has a chance. The Broncos don’t have a quarterback in their 2025 class yet.

Sagapolutele is entering his third season as the starter at James Campbell. He has attempted more than 800 passes in his high school career, and he finished last season with 3,757 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.1% of his passes, according to ScoringLive.

Boise State also has a chance to land a commitment this week from three-star athlete Mana Carvalho, who will announce his decision live on 247Sports’ YouTube channel at 4 p.m. Mountain time on Friday.

Carvalho plays wide receiver and cornerback at Kahuku High School, where he helped the Red Raiders win their third straight Open Division Hawaii State Championship last season. He led the team with 61 catches for 766 yards and snagged five interceptions.

The 5-11, 165-pounder is the No. 5 overall prospect in Hawaii and the No. 66 athlete in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports. He has scholarship offers from at least 16 programs, including Washington State, California and San Diego State, but he’ll choose from a final four of Boise State, Utah, Arizona and Nevada. Carvalho made an official visit to Boise State on June 17.

The Broncos have a history of landing impact recruits from Kahuku, including cornerbacks Kekaula and Kaonohi Kaniho. Kekaula was a five-year starter and ended his college career in 2021 after appearing in a program-record 60 games. Kaonohi has started 22 games the past three seasons and will move to safety this season.
