Which Boise State football players, coaches are in the running for national awards?

As the 2023 college football season approaches, Boise State coaches and players are receiving recognition on annual preseason watch lists.

We’ve rounded up the accolades all in one place.

The Broncos open the season at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at Washington. The game will be televised on ABC.

Dodd Trophy

This award celebrates the head coachwho enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of three pillars of Bobby Dodd’s coaching philosophy — scholarship, leadership and integrity. The winner of the 2023 Dodd Trophy will be announced in Atlanta during the week of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Maxwell Award

This award is given annually to the best collegiate player. The award is named in honor of Robert “Tiny” Maxwell, a former standout student-athlete at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official. The winner of the 87th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards held in December.

Lou Groza Award

This award is given annually to the most versatile player in college football. The winner will be announced Dec. 6.

Wuerffel Trophy

This award honors players who combine exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field. The formal announcement of the 2023 recipient is scheduled to be made in December during The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.

Sixth-year senior defensive end Demitri Washington

Outland Trophy

The Outland Trophy is annually awarded to the best college football interior lineman. The recipient of the 2023 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN in December.

Sixth-year senior right tackle Cade Beresford

Bronko Nagurski Trophy

This award is presented annually to the top defensive player in college football. The winner will be revealed on Dec. 4 at the Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Davey O’Brien Award

The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation’s best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award. The winner of the 2023 Davey O’Brien Award will be unveiled live on ESPN in December during The Home Depot College Football Awards.

Doak Walker Award

This award is is annually presented to the nation’s top college running back. The 2023 winner of the Doak Walker Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show scheduled for December.

The award is annually given to the nation’s top punter. The 2023 Ray Guy Award winner will be revealed live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN in December.

Butkus Award

The Butkus Award is given annually to the most impactful linebacker in the game. The 2023 Butkus Award winner will be announced Dec. 6.

Walter Camp Player of the Year Award

This award is given annually to the national player of the year. The 2023 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient will be announced live on the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN in December.

The award is presented annually to the most outstanding defensive player in college football. The winner of the 2023 Chuck Bednarik Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December.

Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award

The award is presented annually to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry that epitomizes great ability and integrity. Five finalists for the award will be unveiled on Nov. 30, with the winner announced on Dec. 14.

Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award

The award recognizes the top offensive player in the country who was either born in Texas, graduated from a Texas high school or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.

Comeback Player of the Year

The award recognizes college football players for overcoming injury, illness or other circumstances. Reed, a redshirt senior from Temple, Texas, is one of 49 players to advance to the next stage of the watch list, which began with 100 student-athletes.

Sixth-year senior tight end Riley Smith

Burlsworth Trophy

The Burlsworth Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding FBS player who began his career as a walk-on. The award ceremony to honor the three finalists and to announce the 2023 winner will be on December 4 at 6 p.m. MT at Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, Arkansas.

This award is presented to the most outstanding receiver in the FBS, regardless of position.
