Boise State is in its third season of home games on Fox Sports 1. Here are the ratings
The Boise State football team’s first three home games of the season averaged 332,000 viewers on Fox Sports.
Fox replaced ESPN as owner of media rights to Boise State’s home games in 2020 through the Mountain West’s most recent TV contract, but the Broncos were able to play only three games on The Blue that season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All six of the Broncos’ games at Albertsons Stadium aired on FS1 last season, averaging 341,333 viewers.
Boise State’s first three home games this season also appeared on FS1. The Broncos’ road games are broadcast by CBS Sports Network, which are not publicly rated, according to CBS Sports communications manager Harrison Raboy.
The Broncos’ 35-13 win over San Diego State on Sept. 30 is their most-viewed home game of the year, earning a .22 rating and attracting 407,000 viewers, according to sportsmediawatch.com. (The rating indicates the number of total households in the U.S. with a television that tuned in to the broadcast.)
Boise State’s 40-20 win over Fresno State on Oct. 8 earned a .19 rating and attracted 375,000 viewers. The Broncos’ home opener — a 30-7 win over UT Martin on Sept. 17 — earned a .10 rating and was watched by 214,000 viewers.
Boise State has averaged 36,323 fans at home games this season. The program set a new attendance record with 37,663 fans at the Fresno State game.
The Broncos’ most-viewed game so far this year was their season opener at Oregon State, which was broadcast on ESPN. It earned only a .7 rating but attracted 1.25 million viewers.
Boise State’s top game last season was a 26-17 win at BYU, which aired on ABC, earned a 1.3 rating and attracted 2.24 million viewers. The Broncos’ most-watched game in the past three seasons was a 38-7 loss to Washington in the 2019 Las Vegas Bowl, which aired on ABC and earned a 1.6 rating while attracting 2.64 million viewers.
Boise State has two more home games scheduled for Fox this season: a contest against Colorado State on Oct. 29, which will air on FS1, and a showdown against BYU on Nov. 5.
Kickoff time and TV broadcast information have yet to be released for what will be the Broncos’ final game against the Cougars for the foreseeable future. BYU is expected to officially join the Big 12 next year, and the Cougars have been adjusting their nonconference schedule accordingly.
Boise State’s regular season finale — a home game against Utah State on Nov. 25 — is scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. and air on CBS.
