A former Boise State LB tests positive for COVID-19; Titans-Steelers game postponed
Former Boise State linebacker Kamalei Correa has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Tennessee Titans placed Correa on their COVID-19 reserve list on Wednesday. He’s the fourth Tennessee player to test positive in the past two days, and the outbreak has affected at least five staff members, according to CBS Sports.
The spike in cases forced the NFL to postpone the Titans game scheduled for Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers to Monday or Tuesday.
Tennessee defensive lineman DaQuan Jones, long snapper Beau Brinkley and practice squad tight end Tommy Hudson have also tested positive for the virus, according to the Tennessean. The only staff member identified as having tested positive is outside linebackers coach Shane Bowen.
Correa is in his fifth season in the NFL and his second full season with the Titans after the team acquired him in a trade with the Ravens late in the 2018 season. Baltimore picked Correa in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
The Honolulu native saw limited snaps in the Titans’ season-opening win against the Lions, but he hasn’t played in the past two games.
Correa was a two-time All-Mountain West pick during his three-year career at Boise State. As a sophomore in 2014, he earned first-team honors after leading the conference with 12 sacks. In 2015, he was a second-team pick after he led the Broncos with seven sacks and 11 tackles for loss.
