Former Boise State linemen Molchon, Moa land undrafted free agent contracts
It didn’t take a pair of undrafted Boise State linemen long to land free agent deals on Saturday.
Defensive lineman David Moa signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings, per his agent at USO Sports. Offensive lineman John Molchon has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to NFL reporter Dov Kleiman.
Moa will reunite with former Boise State left tackle Ezra Cleveland, who was drafted in the second round by the Vikings, and former Boise State running back Alexander Mattison, who was a third-round pick by the Vikings in 2019.
In 2017, Moa made 11 starts on the interior of the Broncos’ defensive line and earned All-Mountain West honors. The following season, he appeared in just one game due to injuries. As a sixth-year senior last fall, he appeared in all 14 games and posted 6.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
Molchon started 42 career games at Boise State. He spent the bulk of his career at guard, but injuries forced him to also line up at tackle. As a senior last fall, he started at left tackle against Portland State — the only game Cleveland missed in his final season with the Broncos. Molchon also trained at center in the months leading up to the draft.
Williams signs with Rams
Weber State defensive end Jonah Williams signed an undrafted free agent deal on Saturday with the Los Angeles Rams, according to the team’s website.
A graduate of Rocky Mountain High in Meridian, Williams finished his senior season with the Wildcats as an All-American and the Big Sky Conference Defensive MVP. He finished his career with 15 sacks, which ranks No. 9 in Weber State history, and also blocked three kicks.
At his pro day, he posted a time of 6.71 seconds in the three-cone drill, which would have ranked first among all defensive linemen at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.67 seconds and posted a 35-inch vertical leap.
Cotton joins Chargers
University of Idaho wide receiver Jeff Cotton has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, the school confirmed Saturday night in a press release.
Last season, Cotton led the Football Championship Subdivision with 8.8 receptions per game and finished second in the FCS with 114.1 receiving yards per game. He led the Big Sky with 88 receptions despite missing two games, and was named second-team all-conference after finishing the season with 1,141 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
