Boise State football finishes in final AP Top 25, USA Today Coaches’ Poll
The Boise State football team ranked No. 23 in the final AP Top 25 poll of the 2019 season, which was released Monday night following LSU’s 42-25 win over Clemson in the CFP National Championship game.
The Broncos also finished the season ranked No. 22 in the final USA Today Coaches’ Poll, which was released Tuesday morning.
It’s the third straight year the Broncos ended the season in the top 25 of both polls. They also were ranked No. 23 in last season’s final AP poll and No. 24 in the Coaches’. They ended the 2017 campaign at No. 22 in both.
Boise State ended the 2019 season ranked behind five Group of Five teams. Memphis (12-2), which fell to Penn State in the Cotton Bowl, finished at No. 17. Sun Belt champion Appalachian State (13-1) ranked No. 19, followed by Navy (11-2), which knocked off Kansas States, 20-17 in the Liberty Bowl, and Cincinnati (11-3), which dominated Boston College 38-6 in the Birmingham Bowl.
Air Force (11-2), which upset Washington State 31-21 in the Cheez-It Bowl, finished the season ranked No. 22. UCF checked in just behind Boise State at No. 24.
Boise State finished the regular season 11-1 and went undefeated in Mountain West play for the first time in program history. The Broncos hosted Hawaii in the Mountain West championship game and won their second conference title in the past three years.
The Broncos were No. 19 in the final CFP rankings before they ended the season with a 38-7 loss in the Las Vegas Bowl to Washington, which was led by former Boise State coach Chris Petersen.
