Boise State’s Harsin named finalist for national coach of the year award
Boise State football coach Bryan Harsin was named one of nine finalists for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award on Tuesday.
This fall, Harsin led the Broncos on their first undefeated run through the Mountain West in program history and their second conference championship in three years. He’s 64-16 in six seasons at his alma mater, and this year marked the fifth 10-win season and second 12-win campaign under his watch.
Joining Harsin as finalists are Ohio State’s Ryan Day, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, LSU’s Ed Orgeron, former Appalachian State coach Eliah Drinkwitz (who was introduced as Missouri’s head coach Tuesday), SMU’s Sonny Dykes, Minnesota’s P.J. Fleck, former Memphis coach Mike Norvell (who has been hired by Florida State) and Baylor’s Matt Rhule.
The winner will be announced Dec. 20. The winning coach will be presented the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year bust Jan. 11 in New Orleans during a reception hosted by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in conjunction with the College Football Playoff National Championship.
Boise State will close the 2019 season Dec. 21 at the Las Vegas Bowl against Washington (5:30 p.m. MT, ABC).
