What do stats say about the matchup between Boise State football and Oregon in Vegas?
The Boise State and Oregon football teams have been known for a similar thing for nearly two decades — points, and lots of ’em.
In fact, since 2000, they are the top two scoring offenses in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Boise State has averaged 39.3 points per game in 234 games, with Oregon right behind at 38.04 ppg in 239 games.
Though the Broncos aren’t quite the scoreboard-melting machine they once were, they still have a potent offense, and the Ducks are averaging an incredible 52.1 ppg in seven games with sophomore quarterback Justin Herbert at the helm.
Boise State (10-3) often has made its name by knocking off Power Five schools like Oregon (7-5) but has lost its last three such matchups dating to last year’s Cactus Bowl. The Broncos lost to Washington State and Virginia in September.
“We lost to a Pac-12 this year and an ACC, so it’s time to beat (a) Power Five,” senior wide receiver Cedrick Wilson said.
