The team will travel to Costa Rica from Aug. 11-16, playing against teams from Costa Rica and Canada in preparation for the 2016-17 season.
NCAA rules allow teams to take a foreign tour once every four years. Teams participating in a foreign trip are also permitted 10 practice dates in advance of the trip. Boise State is expected to begin practicing in late July.
“There is so much value in a foreign tour,” said head coach Leon Rice. “This will be a great way for all of our new players and staff to get acclimated to each other. That’s truly the benefit of a foreign trip. Also, the 10 extra days of practice will be great for such a new team.”
The last time Boise State embarked on a foreign tour was in 2007 on a Labor Day weekend trip to Canada.
