Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State women’s basketball can’t hold lead against Auburn

Auburn rallied to take a 55-53 win over the Boise State women’s basketball team Friday in the San Juan Shootout. Brooke Pahukoa socred 21 points to lead the Broncos (2-2), who led by 12 points in the first quarter and also held leads at halftime and at the end of the third quarter. BSU had a chance to win it in the final seconds, but Shay Shaw’s 3-pointer fell short as the buzzer sounded. The Broncos next face Stetson on Saturday.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Montana Western beat the Coyotes 74-48 at the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic in Caldwell. Kiara Skinner had 13 points and Petra Lumpert had 11 rebounds for the C of I (0-5).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Crusaders lost to Westminster 88-60 in Salt Lake City. Lexi Tubbs led NNU (1-4) with 10 points.

NNU MEN’S BASKETBALL: Bouna N’Diaye scored 24 points, and the Crusaders (3-0) defeated Eastern Oregon 87-71 in Nampa.

IDAHO STATE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Isabel Vara de Rey hit a 3-pointer as time expired and the Bengals earned their first road win, beating Southeast Missouri 65-64 in the Thanksgiving Classic in El Paso, Texas. Apiphany Woods led ISU (2-3) with 15 points.

ISU MEN’S BASKETBALL: Jakob Poeltl scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds as Utah easily dispatched Idaho State 102-72 in Salt Lake City. Ali Faruq-Bey scored a game-high 18 for Idaho State (2-3). The Utes (5-1) led 57-28 at halftime and never looked back.
