Boise State women’s basketball picked third in Mountain West
The defending Mountain West Tournament champions received six first-place votes in the preseason basketball poll of league coaches released Wednesday.
Colorado State (12 first-place votes) and New Mexico (7) are 1-2. Boise State junior guard Brooke Pahukoa made the all-conference team with Colorado State guard Ellen Nystrom, New Mexico forward Khadijah Shumpert, Utah State guard Funda Nakkasoglu and Wyoming guard Marquelle Dent, who also was chosen as the player of the year.
Freshman of the year honors went to New Mexico guard Jannon Otto, and Nevada’s Stephanie Schmid and San Jose State’s Dezz Ramos shared newcomer of the year recognition.
Boise State plays an exhibition game against Southern Oregon at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 6 in Taco Bell Arena.
