These two Boise State hoops transfers found homes in the Big Ten, Big 12
Two former Boise State men’s basketball players have landed at Power Four programs.
Forward Javan Buchanan announced his commitment to West Virginia on Saturday morning on Instagram, and fellow forward Andrew Meadow followed him a day later with his commitment to Oregon.
Meadow has one year of eligibility remaining, while Buchanan is hoping to obtain a waiver that allows former non-NCAA transfers an extra year of eligibility. Buchanan began his career at NAIA school Indiana Wesleyan, before spending the past two seasons with Boise State.
Buchanan was Boise State’s second-leading scorer last season, at 12.6 points per game, and was named the Mountain West Sixth Man of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
Meadow joined the Boise State program out of West Ranch High School in Stevenson Ranch, California. He broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore. Last season, he averaged 12.1 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 51% from the field and 38.6% from 3-point range.
Meadow will be part of an effort from Dana Altman to get Oregon back to the level it is accustomed to. The Ducks suffered through their worst season under Altman in 2025-26, going 12-19. Prior to that they won at least 20 games in 15 straight years, with nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Final Four.
West Virginia is coming off a 21-14 season that saw it win the College Basketball Crown, an event in Las Vegas that awards NIL money. Buchanan and Boise State played in the inaugural Crown in 2025.
