Just one Bronco earns all-MW honors ahead of late-night tournament slate

The Mountain West announced its all-conference basketball awards on Tuesday afternoon, and just one Boise State player earned honors.

Junior forward Drew Fielder was voted to the All-Mountain West Second Team in his first season with the Broncos. Fielder is averaging 14.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists, while shooting 55% from the floor, heading into the conference tournament this week.

Senior guard Dylan Andrews and senior forward Javan Buchanan earned honorable mention notice, meaning they received at least a vote for one of the three all-conference teams.

The No. 6-seeded Broncos kick off their postseason in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament against No. 11 San Jose State in Las Vegas on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. Mountain time.

Fans are looking at a bunch of late nights if Boise State makes a run in the tourney. If the Broncos beat San Jose State for the third time this season, they’ll face No. 3 New Mexico — and try to beat the Lobos for the third time — in the quarterfinals in another 9:30 p.m. MT tipoff.

The winner of that quarterfinal game will play in Friday’s second semifinal game, which will tip off at 10 p.m. Mountain time.

If Boise State makes it all the way to the championship game, everyone will be rewarded with a reasonable game time: 4 p.m. MT.

Here’s who earned individual and team honors, as voted on by select Mountain West coaches and media members.
