Boise State basketball learns Maui Invitational opponent, adds four home games
Boise State men’s basketball added games to its 2025 nonconference schedule this week, including learning its first-round matchup in the Maui Invitational holiday tournament.
The Maui Invitational first-round matchups were announced on Monday, with Boise State paired against USC. The game will take place at the Lahaina Civic Center, with tip-off scheduled for 3 p.m. Mountain time on Nov. 24. The game will air on ESPN2.
It’s the first time Boise State has participated in the Maui Invitational, and the first time the Broncos and Trojans have gone head-to-head in basketball. USC has competed in Maui twice before, in 1999 and 2012, and holds an overall record of 3-4.
Depending on the result of the first round, Boise State will face either Seton Hall or N.C. State in the second round. The four teams on the other side of the bracket are Washington State, Chaminade, Arizona State and Texas.
The Maui Invitational championship game will be played Nov. 26, the day before Thanksgiving.
Boise State head coach Leon Rice is no stranger to the Maui Invitational. He was an assistant coach for Mark Few at Gonzaga for three trips to Maui, in 2002, 2005, and 2009. The Zags won the 2009 tourney.
Boise State on Wednesday added four home games to its 2025 nonconference schedule:
Utah Valley (Nov. 8)
Texas Rio Grande (Nov. 11)
Montana State (Nov. 15)
Duquesne (Dec. 10)
Tipoff times have not been announced for those games.
