Boise State to compete in 2025 Maui Invitational. Here’s when, what teams will be there
Boise State basketball has earned a seat at the big boy’s table.
On Thursday, the Broncos announced they had accepted an invitation to compete in the 2025 Maui Invitational — the first time ever for the program in this prestigious holiday event.
The tournament takes place in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, and will take place from Nov. 24-26 — the week of Thanksgiving, as usual. Boise State replaced UNLV in the eight-team field. The Rebels haven’t provided a reason why they’re no longer in the tourney.
The Maui Invitational has long been one of the best in-season college basketball events and typically airs nationally on ESPN. It has often featured teams that went on to become national champions that same season, such as North Carolina (2016-17) and UConn (2010-11).
The Broncos may not be considered a national title contender, and the 2025 Maui Invitational may not have as stacked a lineup as in recent years, but there’s still the potential for some high-profile early-season games.
Teams from eight different conferences will compete in November: Boise State (Mountain West), Arizona State (Big 12), Chaminade (Pacific West), N.C. State (ACC), Seton Hall (Big East), Texas (SEC), USC (Big 10) and Washington State (WCC).
Of those eight, only Texas is currently considered an NCAA Tournament team this season, but there is a lot of traditional college hoops success among the programs.
The Broncos have never faced Chaminade, Seton Hall, Texas or USC.
The Maui Invitational guarantees every team will play three games. The bracket has not been unveiled yet.
