Boise State adds commitment to its backcourt rebuild. Point guard is from eastern Idaho
Bronco Nation will have another Idaho native to cheer for on Boise State men’s basketball from the 2025-26 season onward.
Rexburg native and Madison High School guard Nash Humpherys announced his commitment to Boise State on Monday morning.
The 6-foot senior guard had offers from multiple schools besides Boise State, including Eastern Washington, Idaho State and Fairleigh Dickinson, which famously became the second No. 16 seed to defeat a No. 1 seed (Purdue) in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
Humpherys primarily plays point guard but can also shift to shooting guard.
Humpherys will likely join a young backcourt undergoing a makeover after waving goodbye to multiple veterans after the 2023-24 season, including graduating senior Max Rice and Chibuzo Agbo, who transferred to USC.
The Broncos have worked to remedy those losses heading into the upcoming season, adding transfer point guard Alvaro Cardenas from San Jose State and three-star shooting guard freshman Moses Hipps to its 2024-25 roster, among others.
Coached by his father, Shane Humpherys, Nash helped Madison High to a third-place finish at the 2024 5A boys basketball state tournament. Madison lost to eventual champion Owyhee in the semifinals.
