Boise State hosting Selection Sunday party at ExtraMile Arena, but Broncos won’t be there

Boise State will host a Selection Sunday watch party, but the Broncos won’t be there.

The team, fresh off winning the Mountain West Tournament, is delayed in Las Vegas and won’t be home in time for the event, which begins at 3 p.m. Sunday at ExtraMile Arena. The NCAA Tournament selection show runs from 4 to 5 p.m. on CBS.

The Broncos have clinched their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and first since 2014-15. They’ll also be going for their first victory, as the Broncos are 0-7, having suffered a one-point loss to Dayton in their most recent appearance.

Sunday’s event is free to attend, and fans are asked to use Entry 2 to access the watch party.

Parking is free in the East and West Stadium Lots, and limited concessions will be available for purchase at ExtraMile Arena.

Students and fans are still invited to attend the watch party, where Bronco Athletics will have conference championship T-shirts for the first 1,000 students in attendance, and 500 limited-edition “We’re Dancing!” posters available to the first 500 fans.

Free food will also be available for Boise State students, and a drawing will be held for three student VIP experiences, where three students will be selected to travel with a guest of their choosing with the team to the NCAA Tournament.

All attendees will have an opportunity to take pictures on the court with the Broncos’ regular-season trophy.

The Broncos were projected to be a No. 6 seed on Saturday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, and their first-round game could be March 17 or 18 at one of eight locations — Buffalo, New York; Cincinnati; Fort Worth, Texas; Portland; Greenville, South Carolina; Milwaukee; Pittsburgh; or San Diego.

The team is scheduled to arrive in Boise at 6:36 p.m., and fans are welcome to greet the Broncos at the Boise Airport.

The women’s 68-team field will be announced at 6 p.m. Mountain time Sunday on ESPN.
