Boise State adds a 6-7 sharpshooter from Texas to its 2021 recruiting class
The Boise State men’s basketball team added a 6-foot-7 sharpshooter to its 2021 recruiting class on Thursday.
RJ Keene — a four-star recruit, according to ESPN — committed to the Broncos on Twitter. He had a list of more than 15 scholarship offers to choose from, according to 247Sports, which gave him three stars and ranked him as the No. 12 recruit in Texas.
On July 5, he trimmed that list down to six schools: George Washington, Boise State, Utah State, Iona, Grand Canyon and Hawaii.
The 190-pound Tomball, Texas, native averaged 20 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals per game last season for Concordia Lutheran. He also knocked down 135 3-pointers — good news for the Broncos, who have to replace all-time 3-point leader Justinian Jessup this season.
Keene lined up at small forward at Concordia Lutheran but he projects as a shooting guard for the Broncos, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Keene is the second known recruit in the Broncos’ 2021 class, joining Tyson Degenhart — a 6-7 forward, who committed last September.
