Boise State volleyball splits matches on opening day

The Broncos started a new season with a 25-17, 25-21, 25-11 victory over Northwestern State (La.) on Saturday at the TCU Invitational. Sierra Nobley recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. In the next match, BSU fell to N.C. State 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21. Nobley once again led the Broncos with 21 kills, while Maddy O’Donnell chipped in 14 kills, four aces and six blocks.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Coyotes completed a sweep of their four Big Sky Volleyball Challenge matches in Butte, Mont., defeating Montana Tech 18-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-12 and Montana Western 25-18, 17-25, 25-18, 25-17. Brenna Meehan recorded 43 kills on the day, while Kilee Lopez (Vallivue High) had 44 digs for the C of I (5-3).

C OF I/NNU MEN’S SOCCER: Keon Jones and Ebu Camara scored in the first half as Northwest Nazarene held on for a 2-1 exhibition victory over the C of I in Nampa. Carter Perry (Boise High) scored for the Coyotes on an assist by Joao Cardoso (Bishop Kelly High). Michael Mollay (Boise High) also had an assist for NNU.
