Boise State women’s soccer opens season by beating Idaho State

Raimee Sherle (Rocky Mountain High) scored in the first half of her first collegiate game, and the Boise State women’s soccer team defeated Idaho State 2-1 in a nonconference game Friday at the Boas Soccer Complex. Eva Herrera added a second-half header for Boise State on the same day it announced a foreign tour of Barcelona and San Sebastian, Spain, scheduled for May. Tristen Spooner scored for the Bengals (0-1) in the 68th minute. The Broncos’ opening three-game homestand continues Aug. 26 against Seattle.

IDAHO SOCCER: The Vandals lost their season opener 1-0 to South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Yotes (1-3) lost twice to ranked teams at the Anaheim Summer Slam Tournament in La Mirada, Calif. C of I started with a 25-19, 27-25, 25-21 loss to No. 6 Midland, then fell to No. 16 Westmont 22-25, 25-14, 26-24, 25-22.
