Three Boise State swimmers will compete at U.S. Olympic Trials

Brittany Aoyama, Emma Chard and Sam Wicks will compete for U.S. national team spots in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics starting Sunday in Omaha, Neb. Aoyama, a seven-time Mountain West champion, will compete in a 100-meter butterfly heat Sunday morning. She then has the 200 (Tuesday), 100 (Thursday) and 50 (Saturday) freestyles. Wicks, a six-time conference champ and the league’s Swimmer of the Year, will race in the 100 backstroke Monday. Chard, the MW champ in the 200 free, also will swim the event Tuesday. Heat races begin at 9 a.m. MT each day through July 3 on the NBC Sports app, and finals start at 7 p.m. on NBC.

BSU TRACK AND FIELD: Miler Haller (31 minutes, 55.03 seconds) finished 11th in the men’s 10,000 meters at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships late Friday in Clovis, Calif. He also competed in the 5,000 late Saturday.
