Boise State track qualifies two runners for NCAA Championships

Freshmen Brenna Peloquin and Minttu Hukka punched their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.

Peloquin took seventh in the 10,000 meters at the West Preliminary Round, clocking a time of 34 minutes, 25.45 seconds, while Hukka ran a season-best, 11th-place effort of 10:13.48 in the 3,000 steeplechase. Seven other Broncos will compete Saturday, hoping for a shot at nationals June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO TRACK: Seniors Max Hampton (Eagle High) and Dan Williams (Bishop Kelly High) qualified for the 5,000-meter final at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. Hampton ran a 15:12.03, while Williams clocked a 15:15.58. The final is Saturday in Gulf Shores, Ala. On the women’s side, sophomore Amy Pfaff qualified for the 800 final with a 2:13.12. She also runs Saturday.
