Idaho colleges roundup: Two Boise State gymnasts qualify for Olympics
Incoming freshmen Isabella Amado (Panama) and Courtney McGregor (New Zealand) will compete individually in the women’s artistic all-around and represent their respective countries at the Games in Rio de Janeiro. The duo will be the first Bronco gymnasts in school history to compete at the Olympics. With 12 countries qualifying as teams, Amado and McGregor are two of 38 gymnasts to qualify as individuals. The artistic gymnastics competition will take place Aug. 6-11 and Aug. 14-16.
NORTHWEST NAZARENE BASEBALL: Infielder Tyler Davis is the GNAC player of the year, and Rocke Musgraves is the coach of the year. Catcher Drew Helmstadter and outfielder Ryan Johnson (Timberline High) were also first-team selections. Pitcher Colton Loomis and shortstop Tucker Campbell made the second team, while Ross Clevenger (Bishop Kelly) and Ryan Nyborg were honorable mention picks.
