Idaho colleges (April 24): Former Boise State wrestler makes Olympics

George Ivanov won the silver medal at the World Olympic Qualifier on Saturday, and he will represent Bulgaria in Rio de Janeiro this summer. Ivanov earned a spot in the 74-kilogram (163-pound) freestyle bracket when he defeated Mihaly Nagy of Hungary 10-7 in the semifinals. He lost the final match to Turkey’s Soner Demertis 11-1. Ivanov, the 2013 Pac-12 champion at 157 and the conference meet’s Most Outstanding Wrestler that year, is the second Bronco wrestler to reach the Olympics. Charles Burton represented the United States at Sydney in 2000 and finished fifth in freestyle at 85 kg (187 pounds).

BSU MEN’S GOLF: Logan France completed his collegiate career with an eighth-place finish Sunday at the Mountain West Championships in Tucson, Ariz. France shot a final-round 74 to finish at 4-under 212, five shots behind champion Trevor Clayton of Fresno State. The Broncos (872, +8) were ninth of 11 teams, 26 shots behind first-place UNLV.

BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos (12-31, 4-11 MW) lost to Utah State 8-7 in Logan.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO BASEBALL: The Yotes (31-18, 18-13 NAIA West) split a doubleheader at British Columbia, winning 5-3 and losing 6-0.

C OF I SOFTBALL: The Yotes (17-20-1, 9-15 Cascade) split a season-ending doubleheader with Eastern Oregon in Caldwell, winning 8-0 and losing 5-3.
