Idaho colleges roundup (April 5): Boise State golfer posts low round at Chambers Bay
Kyle Mitsunaga (Boise High) was the only player to break 70 in any round of the Redhawk Invitational on Tuesday, firing a 3-under 67 at the 2015 U.S. Open site to move up 45 spots and finish in a tie for 19th. Mitsunaga shot 80-84 on Monday. The Broncos finished 14th of 16 teams at 953, 56 strokes behind champion Washington.
WOMEN’S GOLF: Kristin Strankman led three Idaho players in the top 10, and the Vandals won the 19-team Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Ariz. Strankman tied for sixth with Boise State’s Samantha Martin at 2-over 218. Michelle Kim and Cassie McKinley shot 220 for the Vandals, tying for ninth in a group that included Boise State’s Genevieve Ling. Idaho finished at 9-over 873; the Broncos tied for fourth at 888.
