Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State gymnasts close out home schedule Friday

The 12th-ranked Broncos (10-0, 4-0 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference) will honor four seniors in a tri-meet against San Jose State and Southern Utah.

The meet starts at 7 p.m. at Taco Bell Arena.

Krystine Jacobsen, Maddie Krentz, Molly McFarland and Marissa Wossner will compete in their final home meet of the regular season.

Jacobsen, from Virginia Beach, Va., is fourth in the nation on the uneven bars with a regional qualifying score of 9.915.

BOISE STATE INDOOR TRACK: Distance runners Allie Ostrander and David Elliott are competing Friday and Saturday at the NCAA Championships in Birmingham, Ala. Ostrander will run the 5,000 meters (7:25 p.m. MT Friday) and 3,000 (5:25 p.m. Saturday), while Elliott takes on the mile (prelims at 4:30 p.m. Friday, finals at 3 p.m. Saturday) and 3,000 (5:10 p.m. Saturday).

NCAA SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS: Montana State’s Anika Miller (McCall-Donnelly High) won the women’s 5k freestyle skate interval race, while Utah’s Sloan Storey (Wood River High) took third in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO SKIING: All-American performances by Anton Waller and William Franzen helped the Coyote men take third in skier-cross competition at the USCSA Championships in Lake Placid, N.Y. Freshman Anna Granhed took third in the alpine slalom as the Coyote women were sixth.
