Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State gymnastics improves to 6-0 this season

The No. 9 Broncos defeated No. 24 Southern Utah 196.250-195.700 on Friday night. BSU’s start matches the team’s best start to a season since 2010, when it also started 6-0. Shani Remme won the all-around (39.325) — her second win of the season. Maddie Krentz won on floor (9.925), and Krystine Jacobsen tied for first on bars (9.875).

BSU INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: Juston Lindsley won the men’s weight throw (55 feet, 1.5 inches) on the first day of the Jacksons/NB Indoor Invitational at the Idaho Sports Center in Nampa. The meet continues at 9 a.m. Saturday.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S BASKETBALL: Warner Pacific routed the Coyotes 101-75 in Caldwell. Aitor Zubizarreta led the C of I (14-11, 9-7 Cascade) with 20 points.

C OF I WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Ryleigh Swagerty scored a career-high 19 points, and the Coyotes (7-15, 6-10 Cascade) won back-to-back games for the first time this season, stopping Warner Pacific 72-64 in Caldwell. The C of I used a 12-0 run to open the second quarter and made a season-high 10 3-pointers.

C OF I BASEBALL: Zach Draper struck out 11 batters in six innings of one-hit ball as the Coyotes beat Minot State 14-0 in Caldwell. Mitch Skaggs (Capital High) hit a two-run home run for the C of I (5-0).

C OF I WOMEN’S TENNIS: The Coyotes lost their season opener to Seattle 7-0 in Lewiston.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE SOFTBALL: The Crusaders beat Minot State 3-1 and Azusa Pacific 4-3 to open the season in Las Vegas.
