Idaho colleges roundup: Pahukoa shines in Boise State win over Seattle U.
Junior guard Brooke Pahukoa, a Seattle-area native, hit 6-of-7 shots from 3-point range to lead the women’s basketball team past the Redhawks 84-66 on Saturday. Boise State (6-4) opened a 15-2 lead to start the game and never looked back. Pahukoa scored 16 of her game-high 22 in the first half. Miquelle Askew added 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Shalen Shaw scored 14 to go along with and five assists. Boise State’s defense held Seattle (5-6) to 34.2 percent shooting.
COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S BASKETBALL: The No. 18 Coyotes (7-6, 2-2 Cascade) lost to Corban 93-88 in Salem, Ore.
C OF I WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Coyotes (2-8, 1-3 Cascade) built a small halftime lead, but couldn’t hold off Corban in a 69-63 loss. The C of I led 39-36 at the break, but Corban outscored the Coyotes 23-12 in the third quarter. Kiara Skiner led C of I with 18 points, and Petra Lumpert scored 12. C of I shot just 33.3 percent in the second half.
