Boise State volleyball coach earns Mountain West honor
Boise State volleyball coach Shawn Garus was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year on Monday.
Garus led the Broncos (23-7, 15-3 MW) to second in the league and matched the program record for conference wins (Big Sky, 1988).
Boise State, which leads the nation in kills (15.54) and assists (14.56) per set, placed five players on the All-MW team — senior setter Sarah Baugh, sophomore outside hitter Sierra Nobley, junior middle blocker Maddy O’Donnell, sophomore middle blocker Kaitlyn Oliver and sophomore libero Maddi Osburn (Vallivue High).
San Diego State senior Adrianna Culbert is the MW player of the year, Wyoming’s Reed Copeland is the freshman of the year and Colorado State senior Alex Reid is the newcomer of the year.
NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN’S SOCCER: Senior midfielder Julio Castillo was named to the Conference Commissioners Association’s Division II All-West Region first team.
