Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State soccer falls short of MW Championships

Boise State and Utah State scored 33 seconds apart in the second half, then played two overtimes before settling for a 1-1 tie in their regular season finale Friday. Later in the day, Boise State (7-9-4, 5-5-1 Mountain West) was denied a spot in next week’s Mountain West Championship when Colorado College and UNLV each won. In Tuesday’s quarterfinals in San Diego, No. 6 UNLV plays No. 3 New Mexico and No. 5 Colorado College takes on No. 4 Wyoming. Winners advance to face No. 1 San Diego State and No. 2 San Jose State in the semifinals.

BSU SWIMMING AND DIVING: The Broncos split a tri-meet Friday night in Salt Lake City, defeating Utah 158-141, but falling to Florida Gulf Coast 159-140.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE: Nampa High graduate Liz (Benear) Nixon (volleyball, 1995-98) and Darlene Brasch (volleyball coach, administrator and professor, 1989-2011) will be inducted into the NNU Athletic Hall of Fame at halftime of the men’s basketball game Nov. 13.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: Kylie Porter had 13 kills and five blocks, helping the Coyotes (17-9, 15-3 CCC) to their seventh straight win, stopping Oregon Tech 25-20, 25-19, 25-15 in Klamath Falls, Ore.
