Boise State wrestling gets first win under Mike Mendoza with over Utah State

The Broncos snapped an eight-match losing streak and earned head coach Mike Mendoza his first victory at Boise State with a 29-10 win over Utah Valley on Saturday night at Bronco Gym.

Carson Kuhn (133 pounds), Fred Green (157) and Harley DiLulo (197; Meridian High) all notched pins. Demetrius Romero (165; Mountain View High) added a technical fall.

The Broncos return to the mat at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 18.

BSU TRACK AND FIELD: Sadi Henderson ran the second-fastest 800 time in school history (2:09.31), and the Broncos took home eight individual titles at the Jacksons Open in Nampa. Henderson’s time was the third-best time in the NCAA this year. Melika Ghali won the men’s 800 in 1:57.1. Courtney Hutchinson, competing unattached, won the shot put title (48 feet, 4.75 inches).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE TRACK AND FIELD: Cole Hoberg and Payton Lewis (Nampa Christian High) hit provisional NCAA marks in the season debut at the Jacksons Open. Hoberg cleared 6 feet, 8.25 inches in the high jump, finishing second overall; and Lewis won the pole vault, clearing 16 feet, 6.75 inches.
