BOISE

Broncos goalkeeper Janelle Flores faced 25 shots, making a career-high 11 saves to preserve a 0-0 tie against the Spartans on Friday at the Boas Soccer Complex. The 11 saves are the most in a shutout in Boise State history and the most in any match since 2010. It’s also Flores’ third clean sheet in five conference matches for BSU (4-8-2, 3-1-1 Mountain West). The draw leaves Boise State and San Jose State (6-6-4, 3-1-1 MW) tied for second in the Mountain West standings. Utah State picked up a 4-0 win against Fresno State to improve to 4-1 in conference play and take over first place.

BSU SWIMMING & DIVING: The Broncos won eight of 12 events on the first day at the Chick-fil-A Invitational in Fresno, Calif., and lead the team competition with 587 points — 109.5 ahead of San Diego State. Brittany Aoyama (50 free, 100 butterfly) and Emma Chard (500 and 200 free) each had two victories for BSU, which also swept the three relays, and Ally Keinsorgen won the 100 backstroke. The meet concludes Saturday.

BSU MEN’S TENNIS: Kyle Butters advanced to the round of 16 in singles and doubles with partner Ryland McDermott on the opening day of the Dar Walters Fall Classic at Boise State.

BSU CROSS COUNTRY: The women took third place at Utah State’s Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational in Logan, Utah. Sadi Henderson led the Broncos with a seventh-place finish on the 5.2k-course in 18 minutes, 53.59 seconds. The men did not score as a team.
