Boise State soccer opens Mountain West play with a victory

BOISE

The Broncos edged Wyoming 1-0 on Friday at the Boas Soccer Complex. Raimee Sherle (Rocky Mountain High) scored in the first half to lift BSU (2-7-1) in the Broncos’ Mountain West opener. The goal is Sherle’s second of the season, and she’s the only Bronco to score in the first half of a match this season.

BSU WOMEN’S TENNIS: The Broncos went 6-1 in singles and doubles on the first day of the West Point Invitational hosted by Army.

BSU MEN’S TENNIS: The Broncos went 4-6 on the opening day of the Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Coyotes swept Multnomah 25-16, 25-18, 25-17 in Caldwell. Ashley Pagan led the C of I (9-6, 4-3 Cascade) with 10 kills, while Katy Robinson and Jackie van Vliet added seven blocks apiece.

C OF I MEN’S SOCCER: The Coyotes shut out Walla Walla 8-0 in College Place, Wash., for their first conference victory of the season. Six players scored for the C of I (2-3, 1-1 Cascade). Tyler Sharp led the way with two goals.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE CROSS COUNTRY: Godfrey Kemboi won the MSU-Billings Yellowjacket Invitational in 32 minutes, 20.44 seconds, leading the Crusader men to a third-place finish. The women placed second behind Manzer sisters (and Melba High grads) Sierra and Anysja, who took second and third, respectively, in 22:58.17 and 23:36.44.
