Idaho soccer edges Boise State

Idaho scored in the 21st minute Sunday, then held off 10 second-half shots from Boise State to take a 1-0 victory at the Boas Soccer Complex. It’s the first time the Vandals (3-2-2) have defeated the Broncos (1-6-0) since 2002. Kavita Battan scored for Idaho, which handed Boise State its sixth straight loss.

Boise State duo runners-up at Cougar Classic

PULLMAN, Wash. — Hanna Kantenwein and Milena Toseva lost in the women’s doubles championship match Sunday at the tennis tournament hosted by Washington State. Kantenwein and Toseva fell 6-2 to the host Cougars’ Barbora Michalkova and Aneta Miksovska. In singles, BSU’s Kristy Venter was defeated by Montana’s Cat Orfanos 6-2, 6-3 in the consolation final.

BSU MEN’S GOLF: The Broncos finished eighth in the 16-team field at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., finishing at 36-over 900. UNLV and UTEP shared the team title at 863. BSU’s low score was David Elliott’s 7-over 223, which put him in a tie for 26th.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO WOMEN’S SOCCER: The Coyotes rolled past Whitman 3-0 in Walla Walla, Wash. Jamiece Yizar, Reilly Coyle (Bishop Kelly High) and Maddie Brown (Middleton High) all scored in the second half for the C of I (3-1).

C OF I MEN’S SOCCER: Guilherme Siqueira scored twice as the Coyotes topped Whitman 3-1 on the road. Joao Cardoso (Bishop Kelly High) also scored for the C of I (2-1), while Cole Fuller (Timberline High) and Mehmed Selimovic (Mountain View High) added assists. Grant Billings (Boise High) had two saves for the Coyotes.
