Idaho State men’s basketball beats Montana Tech; at Boise State on Sunday

Brandon Boyd had 15 points, Hayes Garrity scored 14 and Idaho State never trailed in defeating NAIA Montana Tech 76-46 on Friday night to snap a two-game skid.

Leading 39-25 at halftime, Novak Topalovic sparked an 8-0 run with a layup early in the second half and the Bengals began pulling away. Ethan Telfair’s 3-pointer capped a 12-0 run for a 59-34 Idaho State lead with 9:22 to go and the Bengals were never threatened.

Idaho State committed just six turnovers while scoring 20 points off 14 Montana Tech turnovers.

Telfair scored 13 points and made 3 of 6 3-pointers for Idaho State (3-8), which hasn’t lost to a non-Division I team since 1991. Robert Jones III had four assists. Kale Guldseth scored 13 points with three 3-pointers and Sadiq Inuwa added 11 points for the Orediggers (6-6).

Idaho State plays at Boise State on Sunday (4:30 p.m., Taco Bell Arena).
