Oregon cowboys repeats at Caldwell Night Rodeo

Trevor Knowles of Mount Vernon, Ore., defended his title in steer wrestling Saturday night at the Caldwell Night Rodeo Grounds. Knowles recorded a time of 3.9 seconds for $1,363, bringing his winnings for the event to $5,584 and helping him get closer to a spot at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December.

Richmond Champion also picked up a big win Saturday night, winning the final round and the overall title in bareback riding. His final score of 168.5 points helped bring his weekly earnings to $8,328. The biggest paycheck went to Jeff Askey of Athens, Texas, in bull riding. Askey claimed the title with 85.5 points on D & H Cattle Company’s Savage Moves. He collected $10,583.

This year’s rodeo paid $291,475 in total.

Other winners included Colby Lovell and Travis Graves in team roping, Zeke Thurston in saddle bronc riding, Tyson Durfey in tie-down roping and Sherry Cervi in barrel racing. Paul David Tierney won the all-around.
