Joe Basaraba will sign an ECHL contract and return to the Idaho Steelheads for a second hockey season, head coach Neil Graham announced Tuesday.
Basaraba, 24, tied for the team lead in scoring during the 2016 Kelly Cup playoffs, tallying three goals and adding four assists in seven games. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder had 12 goals and 20 assists in 47 regular-season games. All of his goals and 14 of his assists came during his final 32 appearances upon return from injury.
The Steelheads open the 2016-17 season at Utah on Oct. 14. Their home opener is against the Grizzlies on Oct. 21 at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.
