Boise Hawks open NWL baseball series with victory over Hillsboro
Garrett Hampson had two hits and three RBIs, and Boise started its eight-game homestand with a 5-2 victory over Hillsboro in a Northwest League baseball game Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium.
Steven Linkous added two hits and scored twice. Hillsboro (26-24, 7-5 NWL second half) took a 2-1 lead after the top of the second, but Boise (22-28, 6-6) answered back with two runs. Hampson drove in two more on a seventh-inning single.
Antonio Santos picked up his third win of the season, scattering seven hits and allowing two runs in seven innings. Julian Fernandez earned his ninth save.
The Hawks and the Hops continue their series at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
