What in heaven’s name is wrong with the Idaho Statesman Sports department? For two days, you ran articles on this year’s Baseball Hall of Fame inductees — Ken Griffey and Mike Piazza. In both, you completely emphasized the former at the expense of the latter (not mentioned at all in Monday’s article).
Piazza is the all-time great catcher home run king, and he started his career in the Northwest League with the Salem Dodgers. He has great memories of his early days in Salem, but apparently the Statesman staff lacks a scintilla of brain wave activity and cannot honor Mike appropriately.
His friend, and someone with a memory.

I just finished reading that Dave Southorn will be reporting from the Mountain West football media days in Las Vegas, and I read the one-paragraph story about four Boise Hawks making the Northwest League All-Star roster for the game in Ogden.
It is 624 miles and about a two-hour direct flight from Boise to Las Vegas. And it is 339 miles and about a one-hour flight from Boise to Salt Lake City (Ogden).
Does this mean the Statesman will have a reporter at the Northwest League/Pioneer League All-Star Game on Tuesday?
