Eagle golfer takes early lead at Idaho men’s amateur

Colby Dean, who will be a junior at Chico State this fall, shot a 2-under 69 for a one-stroke lead over Canadian Blair Bursey after the first round of the Idaho Men’s Amateur State Championship on Friday at BanBury Golf Course.

Dean and Bursey were the only golfers to come in under par.

Defending champion Andrew Hess of Ammon carded a 6-over 77, and 2016 IGA Match Play winner Graysen Huff sat in a tie for fifth with six others at 2-over.

olfers begin teeing off in the second round at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and the tournament concludes with another 18 holes Sunday.
