Idaho colleges: Boise State’s Peloquin adds second All-American honor

Freshman Brenna Peloquin collected first-team status with her eighth-place finish in the women’s 5,000 meters Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Peloquin, who crossed the line in 16 minutes, 7.32 seconds, also took eighth in the 10,000 on Thursday.

LEWIS-CLARK STATE BASEBALL: Major League Baseball teams largely passed over Idaho this season, selecting only four Lewis-Clark State College players at the conclusion of the MLB Draft. Nine players with Idaho ties were drafted last season. Junior outfielder Jacob Zanon went first to the New York Mets in 15th round, 460th overall. Junior left-handed pitcher Jake Barnett (Nationals, 20th round), junior closer Noel Gonzalez (Cardinals, 29th round) and senior right-handed pitcher Quin Grogan (Twins, 30th round) followed, giving the NAIA school 146 draftees in its history.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO SKIING: Ron Bonneau was honored as the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Coach of the Year.
