Ignitor Nitro Opener underway at Firebird Raceway

Cory Lee from Oceanside, Calif., drove the “California Hustler” to the top spot in qualifying at the NAPA Ignitor Nitro Opener presented by Peterson Chevrolet at Firebird Raceway on Friday.

Lee wheeled his ’78 Trans Am into a 25 mph headwind with temperatures in the low 60’s, at 5.92-second elapsed time and a speed of 245.85 mph.

Funny Car qualifying resumes at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday. Adult pit-side admission is $20, while kids 15 & younger will be admitted free.
