Idaho Steelheads lose to Allen Americans, force Game 7 on Wednesday
The Steelheads allowed three goals in the second period and lost to the Americans 4-2 in Game 6 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series Tuesday night in Texas.
Tommy Fallen and Rob Linsmayer scored for Idaho, while Philippe Desrosiers allowed four goals before being benched. Backup goalie Branden Komm, in his professional playoff debut, finished the game by stopping 13-of-13 shots.
Game 7 starts at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday at the Allen Event Center (KTIK 1350 AM).
The Steelheads have played in one Game 7 since joining the ECHL in 2003, in which they were defeated by Las Vegas in the first round in 2006.
The Americans played two Game 7s on their run to their first championship last season, winning the Western Conference Final and the Kelly Cup Final in seven games.
The winner faces Missouri in the conference semifinals, starting this weekend.
