Idaho Steelheads top Grizzlies, secure playoff berth
Idaho scored three times in the third period to pull away for a 4-1 victory over Utah on Wednesday night in ECHL hockey action at CenturyLink Arena.
The victory, coupled with Tulsa’s loss to Colorado, clinches a playoff spot for the Steelheads in the Western Conference. It also improved Idaho’s lead atop the West Division to three points over both the Grizzlies and the Eagles.
Jefferson Dahl scored his 22nd goal of the season, and Joe Basaraba, Kruise Reddick and Andre Bouvet-Morrissette also scored for Idaho (36-22-9). It was the first professional goal for Reddick, who was playing in his second professional game.
Goalkeeper Philippe Desrosiers made 21 saves and is unbeaten in regulation in his past 13 starts.
