Idaho colleges roundup: College of Idaho football opens season Sept. 3

The Yotes host their opener against Montana Western at Simplot Stadium.

Additional home games include Frontier Conference opponents Rocky Mountain (Sept. 24), Carroll College (Oct. 8), defending NAIA national runner-up Southern Oregon (Oct. 22) and Eastern Oregon (Oct. 29).

All home games start at 1 p.m.

The lone nonconference game is Sept. 10 at Willamette, an NCAA Division III program.

Conference road games include Eastern Oregon (Sept. 17), Southern Oregon (Oct. 1), Montana Western (Oct. 15), Montana Tech (Nov. 5) and Montana State Northern (Nov. 12).

The Yotes start spring practice March 28, and the Spring Game is April 23.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO SKIING: The Coyotes placed fifth in the women’s giant slalom at the USCSA Championships on Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y. Freshman Anna Granhed earned second-team All-American honors with her 11th-place finish.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE TRACK & FIELD: Sophomore Payton Lewis (Nampa Christian High) was named the USTFCCCA West Region Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. Lewis won the GNAC titles in the pole vault and heptathlon last month.

BOISE STATE MEN’S GOLF: The Broncos finished eighth (47-over 899) at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon, Ore. Junior Kyle Mitsunaga (Boise High) led the Broncos in a tie for 32nd at 13-over 226.

BSU WOMEN’S GOLF: The Broncos (9-over 585) took second at the Fresno State Classic with four individuals finishing among the top 25 in Fresno, Calif.

IDAHO MEN’S GOLF: The Vandals finished 15th at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational in Aiken, S.C.
