Idaho colleges roundup: Idaho State’s Telfair honored by Big Sky
Junior guard Ethan Telfair was named the Big Sky newcomer of the year in men’s basketball Monday.
Telfair, who also was a first-team all-conference selection, ranks fifth all-time in Idaho State history for points scored in a season (609).
He is averaging 23.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from the field.
Fellow Bengal Geno Luzcando (sophomore guard) was an honorable mention pick, while Idaho sophomore guard Victor Sanders received second-team recognition.
BIG SKY WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Idaho guard Christina Salvatore made the All-Big Sky first team, and fellow Vandals Ali Forde and Geraldine McCorkell were honorable mention picks. Idaho State’s Apiphany Woods received honorable mention recognition.
IDAHO STATE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Bengals (16-14) defeated Northern Colorado 54-45 in the first round of the Big Sky Tournament in Reno on Monday. ISU plays No. 1 Montana State at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday.
BOISE STATE MEN’S GOLF: The Broncos enter Tuesday’s final round of the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon, Ore., in eighth place (29-over 597). Kyle Mitsunaga (Boise High) and Tristan Rohrbaugh are tied for 25th individually.
