Late strike gives Idaho Steelheads victory over Alaska Aces
Joe Basaraba scored a power-play goal with 4 minutes, 14 seconds remaining, and Idaho beat Alaska 5-3 in an ECHL hockey game Friday at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.
Basaraba’s seventh goal of the season broke the third tie of the game for the West Division-leading Steelheads (32-20-7). Basaraba then set up Andre Bouvet-Morrissette for an empty-net goal 3 minutes later.
Shawn Boutin and Andrew Carroll also had two-point nights for Idaho, which hosts Alaska (20-30-7) again at 7:10 p.m. Saturday. Branden Komm had 21 saves and won his fourth straight start.
