Idaho adding two slowpitch players to softball hall of fame

The Idaho USA/Amateur Softball Association will induct Rick Carringer of Boise and Brent Martin of Idaho Falls during a luncheon ceremony at noon Saturday at The Grove Hotel in Boise.

Carringer played softball for several teams in the Boise area since 1969, starting full-time in 1972, and ultimately won a senior world championship. He had 3,927 hits in ASA-sanctioned play with a .652 batting average. He has won multiple individual awards playing outfield, shortstop, third base, second base, first base, designated hitter and catcher. In retirement, Carringer umpires ASA leagues, plays senior league softball and serves as an area mentor.

Martin won multiple state, regional, national and world individual and team awards in a career that started in 1979.
