Boise’s Scott finishes 24th at Daytona 500
NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie Brian Scott (Boise High, Albertsons/Shore Lodge No. 44 Ford) recorded his best finish in three races at Daytona on Sunday. Scott, who started the race 35th, wound up 24th. He took 25th in his only other 500 appearance two years ago.
Scott led Lap 159 while teams were cycling through pit stops — the first time an Idahoan has led the 500. It was the first lap he has led in the Sprint Cup Series, and it comes with a bonus point in the standings. Sunday also marked the sixth time in 18 Sprint Cup races Scott has finished on the lead lap.
Denny Hamlin won the race in a photo finish with Martin Truex Jr.
